NORBIC is largely funded by grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the U.S. Department of Defense, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and the City of Chicago. All SBA programs are extended to the public on a non-discriminatory basis. This government funding provides support for NORBIC's free and low-cost technical and professional services and grant programs.
Many of NORBIC's government grants require that NORBIC raise matching funds and in-kind contributions. Over 75% of these matching funds are provided through memberships paid by clients who receive significant grants and consulting, fundraising events, and the in-kind donation of expertise by outside consultants. The other 25% of the required matching funds is raised through donations from foundations and corporate sponsors.
