Christie A. Seeds (Director of the NAFTA Opportunity Center)
As the Director of the NAFTA Opportunity Center, Christie assists Illinois companies with establishing business relations within the NAFTA territory, as well as addressing NAFTA compliance issues (certificate of origin, HTS classification, rules of origin, verification). In addition, she works with clients in increasing international sales in countries that have established free trade agreements with the United States. Prior to joining NORBIC, Christie worked as a consultant in trade compliance advising clients on such programs as C-TPAT and FAST. She is knowledgeable in Customs regulations and supply chain management, and plans to take the Customs Broker License exam in April 2008. Christie has a M.A. in International Trade Policy from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, as well as a B.A.A. in Finance, specializing in International Business, from the Business School at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Christie is fluent in Spanish and has lived and worked in both Spain and China. Christie participates in the Organization for Women in International Trade and is involved with many international trade organizations within the city of Chicago.
