NORBIC is dedicated to the idea of continuous improvement and understands that continuous improvement requires continuous learning. Learning can occur in a variety of ways, from formal training by experts in a broad range of fields or through informal discussion with peers. NORBIC offers a variety of events throughout the year that are designed to help its manufacturing clients build a stronger business network and learn from their peers. Topics range from business basics to advanced technical training to social events, and all are designed to encourage a collaborative learning environment. Attendance and sponsorship at these events also help NORBIC raise the funds it needs to match its economic development grants.

NORBIC events typically fall into the following categories:

Basics Seminars
Directed at entrepreneurs, early stage companies and existing businesses, these seminars provide an introductory level of information about common business topics of interest to the target audience.

Key Issues Seminars
Led by experts in the field, Key Issues Seminars address technical areas of significant interest to Illinois manufacturers. These events are directed at mid-level management of larger manufacturers and owners of small manufacturing companies.

Discovery Tours
Discovery Tours focus upon business topics of particular interest to the owners and senior management of small to medium sized Chicago area manufacturing companies. Attendance is limited to owners and senior management in order to foster strong peer to peer discussion of these common operational issues. These events are typically held in a NORBIC client's plant and conclude with a plant tour emphasizing how the host manufacturer has taken advantage of a business opportunity or addressed the problem area under discussion.

Fundraising Events
Topical luncheons, award ceremonies, and a golf outing offer opportunities for networking and learning from peers.
